Lustig Dance Theatre Collaboration! June 1, 2 and 8

In Late August of 2012 I was asked by my good friends at the New Brunswick Jazz Project if I was available on Nov 2nd for a performance.  As the story unfolded I was put in contact with world renowned choreographer Graham Lustig whose professional dance company in New Brunswick, NJ was preparing a piece including five early Ella Fitzgerald recordings with Chick Webb and one of Ella with the Mills Brothers.
Honored to be asked and excited by the challenge of transcribing and arranging the original recordings for Garden Party,  I got right to work.  Countless hours of listening and writing later, we were coming upon our first October rehearsal.  Then SANDY struck and the whole performance was postponed until May!
So, last week we finally got to perform together and it was even more fun than I could have imagined! You missed the first performance, but never fear we have three more coming up in the next weeks!  Check out lustigdancetheatre.org for more information, check out my calendar page and watch the fun video teaser!  The band will be onstage at the coming performances and well lit!

Featuring:
Mike Davis, Trumpet and Vocals
Ricky Alexander, Saxes and Clarinet
Nat Harris, Guitar
