So for about ten years I have LOVED the Chicago Public Radio show This American Life hosted by Ira Glass. If you've not listened to it, I highly suggest you start now. You can download podcasts or stream it from their website www.thisamericanlife.org or listen to it on your local NPR station on the weekends.
This morning as I was on a very cold run around Prospect Park in Brooklyn I heard the introduction to Hindustan on the "Slow to React" episode from Jan 21 on my iPod. I thought it was strange that there was another recording of a cornet sounding like Kevin Louis on the intro minor lick. Later I heard some of Duke Ellington's Creole Love Call which also sounded very familiar (Baby Soda recorded that track on their first CD: Cures Everything but the Blues. The third tune I heard about thirty nine minutes into the show Take My Hand Precious Lord I stopped right in the middle of the road and thought, I hear ME, this is not just a coincidental collection tunes, This American Life is using MULTIPLE Baby Soda tracks from our CDs!! Then I heard an excerpt from Digga Digga Do and sprinted the rest of the way home to see if we had been credited on their website. We got no credit, but there is no doubt that you can hear Baby Soda on this episode of This American Life:
If you don't have time to listen to the whole show, you can hear the snippets roughly at these points:
